We were saddened to learn that a valued contributor to the Nomacorc blog and friend of the Nomacorc team, Ben Carter, passed away suddenly over the holidays. Ben had been contributing to the blog since it came online in the fall of 2014, and his posts were always appreciated, thanks to his professionalism and enthusiasm. He was a valued member of the wine blogging and wine writing community, thanks to his openness and strong desire to share his discoveries and favorite things in life. A resident of Memphis, Tennessee, Ben enjoyed life greatly, notably moments spent with his beloved dog Bella.
Ben’s positive outlook on life seemed unflappable. In February 2014, while visiting Nomacorc’s head office in Zebulon, he remained stranded in Raleigh with a group of writers, when all flights were cancelled by a heavy storm known as the “Snowpocalypse”, which he took in stride, even helping turn the inconvenience into an enjoyable occasion. He had a remarkable ability to maintain strong connections with the people he met, and showed constant graciousness and kindness.
From everyone at Nomacorc, our condolences to his loved ones and everyone who knew him. He will be missed.
